We have big news to share.
Earlier this week, the Signal Awards notified us that American Colony, the podcast series we co-produced with Shake It Easy Media that explores how colonialism shapes the everyday lives of Puerto Ricans, was named a 2026 Finalist in the Culture, Belonging & Inclusion category for limited series and specials.
According to the official email we received, American Colony “has been singled out as one of the best in the industry in its category as determined by our Judging Academy, and is now in the running to win a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award in this year’s competition.”
A final winner’s announcement will be made on October 20. The award’s fifth edition “focuses on recognizing the risk-takers, with members of the invitation-only Signal Awards Judging Academy encouraged to celebrate the spirit of experimentation by honoring creators who lead with authenticity and lower their inhibitions in order to raise the bar,” a Signal Awards press release notes.
As you can imagine, this was a massive win for a self-distributed podcast from a startup nonprofit like ours.
In addition, as a 2026 Finalist, American Colony is eligible to win a 2026 Signal Listener’s Choice Award, and this is where you can help us.
From now until October 15, you can vote for us. It takes just a few seconds.
Thank you so much for supporting us!

Proyecto Agua del Aire en Puerto Rico: From the Boricua Community Center, “Proyecto Agua del Aire en Puerto Rico is a five-site pilot that will place Atmospheric Water Generators (AWG) at trusted community organizations to produce and distribute drinking water to communities affected by water shortages and service interruptions. The project is designed to create reliable local points of access while building a practical community response to recurring water insecurity in Puerto Rico.”
