A new AP/NORC poll released on Wednesday said that 64% of Latino Democrats believe that President Joe Biden should withdraw from the 2024 presidential election and allow for his party to choose a different candidate.
The poll noted that 65% of Democrats overall believe Biden should step down, while 75% of Democrats under 45 years old think he should withdraw. The largest amount of support for Biden comes from Black Democrats. Fifty percent of Black Democrats said he should stay in the race.
Latino Democrats are also one of the groups who are more likely to be dissatisfied with Biden as the nominee.
Around 6 in 10 Democrats overall believe that Vice President Kamala Harris would make a good President.
The AP story noted that “about 6 in 10 Americans want [Donald] Trump to withdraw—but relatively few Republicans are in that camp.” In addition, 37% of Democrats think Biden has a better chance of winning than Trump, with 16% saying that Trump will be the more likely winner. On the Republican side, 72% of respondents said that Trump will win in 2024.

As of now, Democrats plan to virtually nominate Biden during the first week of August before the Democratic National Convention.
Latino Republicans More Enthusiastic to Vote Than Latino Democrats
A new Axios/Harris Poll released on Tuesday said that Latino Republicans are more enthusiastic to vote in November than Latino Democrats.
According to the poll, which was conducted from July 10-12 and included 502 Latino voters out of 2,034 adults, 86% of Latino Republicans said they will vote by party as opposed to 71% of Latino Democrats.
"From a branding standpoint, Latinos have a different perception of the GOP than they do of the candidate," Harris Poll CEO John Gerzema told Axios. "They think Republicans are business-friendly, out of touch, they trail on caring, they trail on equality. They see Democrats as more in-touch, tolerant, promoting the people, but they haven't delivered.”
When The Latino Newsletter shared the poll link on Twitter (we can’t call it X), a few profiles offered their thoughts, questioning the poll's validity in the first place.
“Axios is essentially Fox News.”
“That enthusiasm is gonna collapse when they get deported.”
Comments aside, these poll results should not surprise people. Latino voters, especially new ones, tend to lean more independent than Democratic.
