Latino Leaders Rising
Episode 10 (TEN!) of The Latino Newsletter podcast
Hitting a milestone in the long marathon of building a new nonprofit media outlet is always a time to celebrate.
That is what The Latino Newsletter is doing today.
We hit 10 episodes of our scrappy podcast with our Thursday release.
That’s a big deal.
As one podcast trends post from 2022 notes, “Many of the results we found raised more than an eyebrow, but one finding blew us away—despite the large growth in podcast titles, the number of podcasts that have produced 10 or more episodes and produced an episode in the past week stayed the same as last year. Out of the big pile of 4 million podcasts on Podcast Index, only 155,764 met the criteria. That’s just under 4% of all the podcasts available. Even with the growth of new podcasts, only 1,338,631 (32%) of shows have published 10 or more episodes. Translation: most podcasts have not produced a lot of content.”
So permit us a moment. It’s a nice feeling to hit double digits. This couldn't have happened without the initial support from the Latino Community Foundation and my fellow co-producer Joaquin.
Episode 10: Latino Leaders Rising
This was a show we said yes to because it was an opportunity to feature our first member of Congress. Rep. Adriano Espaillat joined me and Marco A. Davis, the President and CEO of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), to talk about Latino representation on Capitol Hill. For an 18-minute episode, we covered several topics, including misperceptions about U.S. Latinos and why it matters to build pipelines and opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
We are on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Audible, iHeart Radio and YouTube.
We are also posting all episodes here at The Latino Newsletter.
We got to 10!
Here’s to 10 more!
Now, a word from our sponsor.
If you're frustrated by one-sided reporting, our 5-minute newsletter is the missing piece. We sift through 100+ sources to bring you comprehensive, unbiased news—free from political agendas. Stay informed with factual coverage on the topics that matter.
What We’re Reading (and Listening)
Biden and Venezuelan Migrants: As reported by CBS News on Thursday, the Biden administration will not extend the legal status of thousands of Venezuelan migrants admitted under a sponsorship program aimed at reducing unauthorized border crossings.
El péndulo: Congratulations to Noticias Telemundo and Radio Ambulante Studios on the launch of their new “El péndulo” podcast, a six-episode series hosted by Julio Vaqueiro that explores what is motivating Latino voters in key 2024 swing states.
The first episode launched on Thursday.
There’s also a video companion to the audio episode.
It’s great to see partnerships like these forming. The Ambulante team is stellar, and they have been doing the work for years. This type of podcast is an important addition to the 2024 cycle.
