It is the first Friday since Election Day. The last four days have been exhausting, to say the least. This week, we accomplished a lot at The Latino Newsletter, during a time that will go down as a moment in American history. Where will we go next as a country? I have no idea, but The Latino Newsletter wants to be part of that conversation.

In the meantime, if you haven’t read our latest posts, here you go:

I was thinking about how best to present my thoughts about this week, but after much back and forth about what to say, I landed on the following.

We are going to do our best to amplify Latino and Latina voices, and stick to our original mission: “The community must own and drive the narrative. We cannot let non-Latino outlets and voices be the sole ‘experts’ of how the U.S. views us. That is already happening and will only continue. The latest 2024 presidential election coverage shows that. We need to create more lanes for our community. All reporting and commentary must be of the highest quality. It needs to be premium. There must be diversity of voice and opinion.”

Seguimos.

Ok, here’s this week’s show.

Episode 15: The Election Show

Joaquin and I definitely planned on producing an election reaction show, but we wanted to present it differently.

Who do we know who can discuss election results from both the United States and Puerto Rico? There were several possibilities, but the choice was clear: award-winning journalist Susanne Ramirez de Arellano.

I consider Susanne a great friend and journalism mentor. She is someone I trust and admire. Her resume is stellar: UPI, the AP, ABC News, Univision, CNN Opinion, etc. She also filed strong pieces for Latino Rebels and occasionally files for The Latino Newsletter. Susanne is smart AF.

This conversation represents exactly what The Latino Newsletter podcast is all about.

The Latino Newsletter podcast is also on SpotifyApple PodcastsAudible, iHeart Radio, YouTube and on this site.
