BOSTON — This is week 96 of The Latino Newsletter, and as we begin Q2 2026, there is a lot to share. The last update I wrote was on February 25, so consider this a hat-tip to that one, with a lot of cool news to share.
Since then, The Latino Newsletter has joined INN (Institute for Nonprofit News) and LION Publishers, two key networks for independent newsrooms like ours.
The Numbers
Our Beehiiv newsletter now has 1,396 active subscribers, with a 58.99% open rate and a 2.58% click-through rate over the last three months. We also publish the same newsletter edition on LinkedIn, where we have 1,960 LinkedIn newsletter subscribers. Since February 25, we have added 169 newsletter subscribers across both platforms.
Our website has generated 29,820 page views, 15,940 unique visitors, and 20,550 sessions over the last three months — up 101.7%, 110.5%, and 110.1%, respectively, compared to the prior period. (Source: Beehiiv)
Our total social media audience across all platforms stands at 27,037 followers: Bluesky (5,768), TikTok (5,753), Instagram (8,883), LinkedIn (2,979), X (1,508), Threads (1,236), and Facebook (935), with 230 YouTube subscribers.
On Instagram alone, our reach over the last 90 days: 422,023 total views and 111,496 accounts reached — 72.1% from non-followers.
On YouTube, since February 25, there have been 10,378 views and 266 watch hours.
On MSN, since February 25: 3,211 pageviews and 2,461 unique users.
San Juan Bureau
We are on the right path with this, considering that Cris Seda Chabrier’s “Airbnbs Are Eating Up This Puerto Rico Island Municipality” (April 2) generated more than 1,000 web views in just five days, with a 57.14% open rate, and was our #1 Instagram post of the last 90 days with 32,300 views.
Rima Brusi’s “Puerto Rico’s Coasts Are for the People, Not a Playground for the Rich” (April 1) posted a 4.21% click-through rate — nearly double our three-month average — with more than 700 web views.
American Colony
We have major announcements about Season 1 of American Colony for later this month.
Stay tuned!
A Note on Publishing Frequency
As we get deeper into the production phase of American Colony, there may be weeks when we publish fewer than five times. One idea I have in mind is to share more behind-the-scenes looks into the work on the series. We may also occasionally publish on a weekend. We are going to keep it flexible — and we want to hear from you. Let us know what you think by replying to this edition via email or by sharing comments on our website or social media channels.
Our $100K Campaign
We have launched our most ambitious fundraising campaign yet — a goal of $100,000 by June 30. As of today, we have 362 donations. Every contribution helps keep this newsroom paywall-free, independent, and accessible. You can become a supporter at bit.ly/SupportTLN.
So, what is the state of The Latino Newsletter as we begin Q2?
We keep building.
Seguimos.
